The Birth & Baby Community Cupboard

What is the Birth & Baby Community Cupboard?

The Birth & Baby Community Cupboard is a simple idea built from the reality that babies grow fast, motherhood is expensive, and sometimes you just need a little help — or a place to pass things on to someone who truly needs them. It’s mums helping mums.

It’s places in the community where mums can donate the beautiful baby items their little ones have outgrown, and other mums can take what they need. Everything in the Birth & Baby Community Cupboard is free for any mum who needs it. But if you’re in a position to contribute, we welcome small, optional donations to help keep the cupboard running No awkwardness. No judgement. No questions asked.

Because we all know what it’s like to have drawers full of tiny clothes worn once, swaddles barely touched, bottles still sealed, or toys our babies never cared about. And we also know what it feels like to be on the other side — needing something, wishing you had it, or feeling the pressure of buying everything new.

We’re collecting high‑quality baby items and redistributing them through neighbourhood cupboards, market drop‑offs, and free local pickups. If you’d like to donate, volunteer, or host a cupboard we’d love to hear from you.

How it works

1. Donate

We accept high‑quality, clean baby items in excellent used condition.
You can donate by:

  • Dropping items at our market donation points

  • Visiting a Community Cupboard location

  • Booking a free pickup around town

2. We Sort & Restock

All donations are checked, sorted by size, and placed into the Community Cupboard for families to access.

3. Take What You Need

Any mum, parent, or caregiver is welcome to take items — no questions asked.
If you need support, this cupboard is for you. Even a few dollars makes a difference — but if you’re not in a place to give right now, please take what you need with zero guilt. That’s exactly why this cupboard exists.

Give What You Can, Pay What You Can.

Everything in the Birth & Baby Community Cupboard is free for any mum who needs it. But if you’re in a position to contribute, we welcome small, optional donations to help keep the cupboard running.

  • cleaning supplies

  • fuel for local pickups

  • replacement items when stock runs low
